Having had to establish websites not only in the UK but in several other countries gives me perhaps a decent insight to what goes on in the designer community.

Very few - practically - none - would actually do what they promised in the time they agreed and at the price.

Beate Hohmann of Galaxe is a notable example that websites can be designed well, quickly and within budget and then made to work for you day in, day out, with great search engine placing. Follow-up support is likewise quick and  efficient. One hopes she stays that way for a long, long time.
